Hull Marathon to start and finish at KCOM Stadium

We’re delighted to announce that the KCOM Stadium will be hosting the 2017 RB Hull Marathon & Relays. We wanted to add something new and exciting for our City of Culture edition and we think that runners will love the idea of finishing inside the prestigious stadium. Spectators will have a great view of the finishing line and will be able to cheer on the runners from the comfort of the stands.

Race Director, Lucas Meagor commented: “I am delighted to have SuperStadium Management Company and KCOM Stadium join us as Main Sponsors and hosts of the 2017 event. They’ve been so enthusiastic about hosting the marathon and we’re really looking forward to working with them.”

James Deacon, MD of SuperStadium Management Company at the KCOM Stadium, said: “We are very excited and proud to host both the start and finish of such an incredible race. My team has yet again worked hard to showcase this fabulous venue for the city of Hull and beyond, and we look forward to working with the team at Hull Marathon to ensure a successful day.”

We’ll be publishing a map of the revised route as soon as all the details have been finalised and the route has been measured by an accredited course measurer. In the meantime we can give runners an idea of what they can expect from the course:

Starting from outside the KCOM Stadium the route will head east into the city centre and we hope to take in some of the key venues for City of Culture events as well as many of the city’s distinctive landmarks such as Queen Victoria Square, the Old Town, the Deep, Victoria Dock and East Park. After the tour of East Hull the route will head west and we plan to include the marina, Albert Dock, Pickering Park, the Humber Bridge, a lap of Costello Stadium and Peter Pan Park, before returning to the KCOM Stadium.

The revised route enables a relay station to be situated at the half-way point meaning that each runner in the 2-person relay will run exactly half a marathon.

Entries for the marathon and relays via Sports Entry Solutions open at 07.00 on Thursday 1 December.
